I’m not quite sure when the Marfa seed was planted. I can’t pinpoint a specific time or event, but for the past few years I’ve wanted to make the trip out west. Scrubby vegetation, mountains so perfect they don’t look real, and a desert minimalist aesthetic were beckoning so I decided to give in. The first week in June, my brother and I packed up my car and road-tripped it over to Marfa by way of Austin.
Every dusty footpath, patch of cactus, and adobe wall was an unassuming work of art. I seriously can’t put into words how beautiful the colors and textures were. If ever there were a place where I would find nearly everything aesthetically pleasing, it would be Marfa. These photos are ordered chronologically from our walk around the town. Since my brother and I both have dietary restrictions, we chose to cook most meals in our Airbnb though I’ll list a few of the places we really enjoyed below.
