Hello lovelies! In celebration of Earth Day on Friday, the brilliant minds over at One Green Planet are launching their highly anticipated Food Monster App!! Have you ever checked out One Green Planet? It’s an amazing resource not only for vegans but for those that want to make conscious choices that help out animals, the planet, and humans everywhere. Since I’m a food blogger and food is my thang, I think I secretly love that it’s such a great one stop shop for all manner of vegan recipes. I find that I often get tired of sifting through other recipe sites in order to find the vegan goodies, but, at One Green Planet, I don’t have to! And, to make it even easier to search all of the amazing recipes, they are launching their Food Monster App this Friday for Earth Day!
What’s really amazing about the app are the expansive search options. Not only can you search by type of cuisine, specific ingredients, and seasonally, but you can search by special diet, too! This makes it particularly great for those that may be avoiding gluten or soy or perhaps exploring more of a raw foods diet.
I know I’ve mentioned it here before but aesthetics are really important to how I function on a day to day basis. If I don’t like the look and feel of something, I probably won’t use/buy it. In terms of aesthetics and style, the Food Monster App does not disappoint! The simple fonts and design draw the eye towards the beautiful, colorful food images.
Another great feature of the app is the ability to bookmark the recipes you love so that you can easily return to them later. Depending on how your brain works and how you like to organize recipes, you can choose how you want to bookmark something. You can bookmark it either by meal (i.e. breakfast, lunch, dinner) or by type of diet (i.e. gluten free, raw, paleo).
If you are don’t know where to start or perhaps want to see what recipes are popular with users you can using the “Trending” tab. It allows you to see what recipes are currently going viral, which ones are the most popular for the current month, and which ones are tried and true all time favorites. And if you are unsure about a recipe, you can always checkout the comments to see what other users have to say about it. I find the “Trending” tab particularly useful when I’m lacking a little direction in the kitchen and don’t know exactly what I’m looking for. It doesn’t take long to land on an inspiring and delicious recipe!
Once you open up a recipe, the app is super user friendly in terms of showing you a photo of the finished product, breaking down ingredients, and listing prep/cooking instructions. Plus, you can check out all of the comments about the recipe in addition to similar recipes if you want.
Overall the app is a great way to not only have the best and tastiest vegan recipes at your fingertips but to be able to have a sense of community no matter where you are in the world. Since I love you guys, here’s a link that will allow you to access the app a day before it officially releases (click here). And, in case you are a visual person, here’s an awesome video tour of the app and all its features 🙂
